News Free Reading of South of Settling Set for Feb. 8 A free reading of South of Settling, by Emily Schwend, will be presented at Ars Nova Feb. 8 at 7 PM as part of the venue’s free play-reading series, Out Loud. The series is dedicated to developing new work by emerging playwrights.

Davis McCallum directs the reading.  The cast includes Justin Adams, Craig Bockhorn, Kate Forbes, Mariann Mayberrry and Jake O’Connor. South of Settling, according to press notes, is described as such: “When her estranged cousin returns to small-town Carthage, Missouri after many years, Kate Deckhouse finds her well-kept world turned upside-down. Compelled to revisit a history she’d rather forget, Kate tries to walk the fine line between the lies we tell others and the lies we tell ourselves.”

Schwend is a graduate of the playwriting programs at NYU and Juilliard.

Ars Nova is located at 511 West 54th Street.  The event is free, but reservations are required. To make reservations, call (212) 997-1700 or email [email protected]. For more information, visit www.arsnovanyc.com.
