Tony nominees Robert Cuccioli and Ann Crumb as well as Maya Days will star in the reading/vocal presentation of the Albert M. Tapper musical. Presented by Algonquin Theater Productions and Ten Grand Productions, Inc., the event will begin at 2 PM. Sessions, according to a press release, may play a reprise engagement at the Algonquin Theater in May 2008. The Algonquin is currently undergoing a renovation of its lobby and two theatres.
"Dr. Peter Peterson listens, advises and tests his patients," according to Sessions press notes. "What good therapist wouldn't? At once a drama and a comedy with poignant and hilarious moments alike, Sessions is a new musical for a modern generation. After all, couldn't we all use a little therapy?" Song titles include "I'm Only Human," "The Sun Shines In," "I've Become My Father," "Feels Like Home" and "You Should Dance."
Sessions features book, music and lyrics by Albert Tapper, who also penned Imperfect Chemistry (Minetta Lane Theatre, 2000) and From Where I Stand (Laurie Beechman Theatre, 2003).
The Algonquin Theater is located in Manhattan at 123 East 24th Street, between Park and Lexington Avenues. Admission is free; reservations can be made by calling (212) 730-4664.
