CHICAGO -- The Second City is returning to its root in Chicago's South Side. On April 10 An Evening with the Second City plays the South Shore Cultural Center. Part of the Paul Robeson Theatre Series, the event features talk show host Aaron Freeman, a Second City alum who here makes his directorial debut. Freeman leads a select cast of Second City's African-American and Hispanic performers in classic sketches, songs and original improvisations.
It's all a part of Freeman's apparent urge to fail. He claims to have been fired by the nationally famous improv comedy troupe three times during his tenure with the company: "My personal goal is to be fired by Second City in every decade of my adult life. I only hope that this talented group of performers doesn't ruin my chances at a record fourth firing."
