Irreverent TV and theatre actress Claudia Jimenez returns to the stage in Freud´s Juliet a comedy adaptation of Shakespeare´s Romeo and Juliet.
This the third monologue of her carreer, also her first work as an author, inspired by her role in I>How to Stuff a Wild Bikini the comedy by Miguel Falabela, which was on the Brazilian stage for four years. In Freud´s Juliet she plays ten characters, all of them taken directly from the Verona Love Story.
"This is a comedy adaptation, but it hasn´t lost it´s original script," Jimenez told Playbill On-Line. "Only the final part has been modified. My Juliet is a modern woman. She can change her mind. She would opt for therapy sessions as an alternative to suicide... I don´t agree with the idea of dying for love!"
Freud´s Juliet opens at The Leblon Theatre - Marilia Pera Room - Rio de Janeiro on Sept. 12. Directed by Antonio Abujamra.
The Production has songs by Zelia Duncan. Kalma Murtinho and Maneco Quindere are responsible for the Costume Design and Gringo Cardia for the scenery design. For more information call 021 274 3536 at The Leblon Theatre. Tickets cost R$15,00.
