News "FringeNYC Encore Series" — With Hit Fringe Shows — Will Return Aug. 30 For a second year, shows seen in the New York International Fringe Festival will get a chance to live on for a few more weeks in the "FringeNYC Encore Series."

The second annual series — which is not a production of Fringe organizer The Present Company (FringeNYC name is used with permission) — will run Aug. 30-Sept. 16.

Which shows will play on is still yet to be determined, but "producer Britt Lafield will again allow theatre lovers to get a second chance at seeing some of the Festival's favorite shows," according to a release. (Show information and performance times will be announced Aug. 25.)

The "FringeNYC Encore Series" will offer another shot to see "a dozen works in rotating repertory at two downtown venues: Soho Playhouse and The Theatres at 45 Bleecker." The selected shows will either be audience and/or critical favorites.

"One of the great things about FringeNYC is that it creates this unique atmosphere in which really exciting work can get a level of attention that would otherwise be impossible. The unavoidable downside is that just as your word-of-mouth has caught fire, your run is over," stated producer Lafield in a release. "We wanted to give a handful of worthy shows a chance to be seen by more people. These actors, directors, writers and designers have all worked so hard and deserve an encore."

Lafield served as artistic manager at the Soho Playhouse for four years. His production credits include Never Swim Alone, A False Engagement, A Company of Wayward Saints and The Rimers of Eldritch. He currently produced Susan Gets Some Play at FringeNYC 2007. Tickets for "FringeNYC Encore Series" will be $18 and available Aug. 27. For more information, visit fringenyc-encores.com.
