The show debuted in San Diego at the Old Globe in 1986 prior to a 1987 Broadway bow. It opened Nov. 5, 1987 at the Martin Beck Theatre where it ran for nearly two years. Woods was revived at the Broadhurst Theatre in 2002. It has been a regional staple since its premiere.
