News Fuerza Bruta Will Not Close; Off-Broadway Run to Continue Indefinitely The Off-Broadway spectacle Fuerza Bruta, which had announced a February closing date, will now continue its run indefinitely at the Daryl Roth Theatre, producers announced Jan. 30.

Last fall, S2BN Entertainment and executive producer Stephen Shaw announced that Fuerza Bruta would end its run in November 2012 after a five-year run. Ticket demand then prompted further extensions into January and February 2013. Audience response has been significant enough that the producing team has now opted to keep the production open indefinitely.

"The party for Fuerza Bruta in New York is definitely not over," Shaw said in a statement. "We took a few months to test the temperature, and since announcing our closing, nothing but tremendous support and never-before-achieved numbers at the box-office was the result. It's truly incredible to have the theatre more packed with fans today, than during our earlier years, so we had to extend indefinitely into 2013."

De La Guarda's Diqui James (co-founder/co-creator) and Gaby Kerpel (composer/musical director) created Fuerza Bruta, which began performances Oct. 11, 2007, and opened Oct. 24 at the former home of De La Guarda.

Fuerza Bruta first played in Buenos Aires in 2005. It is currently on tour in South America and recently concluded its second run in London at the Roundhouse. The production will tour China, Japan, Russia and Italy in 2013. Since conception, Fuerza Bruta has toured around the world in cities including Edinburgh, Cordoba, Sao Paulo, Rosario, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Queretaro, Antwerp, Bilbao, Taipei, Madrid, Berlin, Tel Aviv and many others.

According to producers, "Breaking free from the confines of spoken language and theatrical convention, Fuerza Bruta is an event where worlds collide and reality takes a back seat. At show time, audiences are ushered onto the main stage where they are engulfed in a 360 degree spectacle featuring mind-blowing visual effects just inches above the audience that must be seen to be believed - a man running full throttle on a giant treadmill, bursting through a series of moving walls; performers suspended in mid-air surrounded by a vast sea of mylar; and gorgeous women twisting ethereally in a lucite pool above the audience." The current cast includes Alvaro Colom, Dusty Giamanco, Christina Glur, Khadija Griffith, Holly Shunkey, Kaiti Pasualotto "Dangerkat", Ben Hobbs, Michele Jongeneel, Liam Lane, Tamara Levinson, Jessica Osborne, Darrio Vacarro, John Hartzell, Angelica Kushi and Brooke Miyasaki.

S2BN Entertainment, Stephen Howard and Stephen Shaw produce the New York run.
