News Full Cast and Creatives Announced for Musical Comedy I Love You Because Rehearsals begin Jan. 2 for the Off-Broadway musical I Love You Because, the modern day retelling of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" directed by Daniel Kutner and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli.

The show's complete cast and creative team have been announced.

Gattelli, who choreographed Altar Boyz, is newly announced, as are cast members Courtney Balan (as NYC Woman), understudies Barrett Hall and Jaclyn Huberman, and Jordan Leeds (NYC Man).

Performances begin Jan. 19 at Off-Broadway's Village Theatre toward an opening of Feb. 14.

The show's main foursome, previously announced, includes Farah Alvin (as Marcy Fitzwilliams), David A. Austin (as Jeff Bennet), Colon Hanlon (as Austin Bennet) and Avenue Q Tony Award nominee Stephanie D'Abruzzo (as Diana Bingley).

Book and lyrics are by Ryan Cunningham, with music by Joshua Salzman. "Set in New York City, I Love You Because follows Austin Bennet (Colin Hanlon), a young greeting card writer whose life is turned upside down when he finds his long-term girlfriend in bed with another man," according to production notes. "Forced back out into the treacherous New York dating scene, Austin meets Marcy Fitzwilliams (Farah Alvin), a flighty photographer whose spontaneity is matched only by her ability to drive him insane. This new musical comedy explores the 'rules' and nuances of dating and learning how to love someone, not in spite of their differences, but because of them."

Stephanie D'Abruzzo plays Marcy’s best friend Diana Bingley and David A. Austin as Austin's brother, Jeff Bennet.

Songs in the show include "Another Saturday Night in New York," "The Actuary Song," "Maybe We Just Made Love," "We're Just Friends," and the title number.

The show was originally developed at the NYU-Tisch Musical Theatre Writing Program. It received its first staged reading in July 2005 at The East 13th Street Theatre. It was also one of eight official selections at the 17th Annual Festival of New Musicals presented by the National Alliance for Musical Theatre in September 2005.

The creative team also includes Beowulf Borritt (set design), Jo Winiarski (set design), Millie Hiibel (costume design), Jeff Croiter (lighting design), Tony Smolenski (sound design) and Walter Trarbach (sound design).

Jana Zielonka is music director. Larry Hochman is the orchestrator.

I Love You Because is produced by Jennifer Maloney, Fred M. Caruso, Robert Cuillo, Gfour Productions.
