As previously announced, Eve Best will make her directorial debut with the production that will star Joseph Millson in the title role and Samantha Spiro as Lady Macbeth, with Bette Bourne as the Porter. They will be newly joined by Billy Boyd as Banquo and Gawn Grainger as Duncan.

Also in the company are Moyo Akandé, Geoff Aymer, Stuart Bowman, Jonathan Chambers, Philip Cumbus, Harry Hepple, Jess Murphy, Colin Ryan, Cat Simmons and Finty Williams.

Best has previously appeared at the Globe in the 2011 production of Much Ado About Nothing. She was most recently seen on the London stage in the title role of The Duchess of Malfi at the Old Vic, and won the Olivier Award for Best Actress for playing the title role in Hedda Gabler at the Almeida in 2005. She has also won the Critics' Circle Theatre Award for Best Actress twice, for Hedda Gabler and Mourning Becomes Electra (seen at the National), and has been twice Tony-nominated for her Broadway appearances in A Moon for the Misbegotten in 2007 and The Homecoming in 2008.

Millson was seen as Benedick in the RSC's West End transfer of Much Ado About Nothing to the Novello. Other recent theatre appearances include Rocket to the Moon (National Theatre), Love Never Dies (Adelphi Theatre) and The Priory (Royal Court). Film credits include "I Give It A Year" and "Casino Royale," and television credits include "Holby City" and "Ashes to Ashes."

Spiro was previously seen at the Globe as Katherina in The Taming of the Shrew last year. Other recent theatre credits include Filumena (Almeida Theatre), Chicken Soup With Barley (Royal Court) and Twelfth Night (Donmar/Wyndhams). She has won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical twice, for Merrily We Roll Along (Donmar Warehouse) and Hello, Dolly! (Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park). TV credits include "Grandma's House" and "Bad Education." Boyd is best known for his role as Pippin Took in the blockbuster film trilogy "The Lord of the Rings." Other film credits include Irvine Welsh's "Ecstasy" and "Master and Commander." TV credits include "Casualty" and "Moby Dick."

Bourne's theatre credits include Resident Alien (Bush Theatre), Pericles (Lyric Theatre) and Much Ado About Nothing (Novello Theatre). Bourne won a Clarence Derwent Award for The Vortex (Donmar Warehouse) and a Manchester Evening News Award for The Importance of Being Earnest (English Touring Theatre).

Grainger's extensive career stretches back over 60 years, since making his London stage debut in 1950. Recent theatre credits include The Recruiting Officer (Donmar Warehouse), A Woman Killed with Kindness (National Theatre) and The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (Almeida Theatre).
