News Further Casting Announced for West End Premiere of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown Willemijn Verkaik, Ricardo Alfonso and Haydn Oakley have joined the previously announced Tamsin Greig, Haydn Gwynne, Jérôme Pradon and Anna Skellern in the West End premiere of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, beginning performances Dec. 16 prior to an official opening Jan. 12, 2015, at the Playhouse Theatre.

Additional cast members include Marianne Benedict, Holly James, Michael Matus, Rebecca McKinnis, Sarah Moyle, Alastair Natkiel, Nuno Queimado and Dale Rapley.

Originally based by Almodóvar on Jean Cocteau’s The Human Voice, the show portrays Pepa (Greig), Candela (Skellern) and Lucia (wynne) struggling for power over their own lives.

Verkaik, who plays Paulina, is best known for her role as Elphaba in the musical Wicked, which she has performed in London, Broadway, Germany and Holland. She has also played Scaramouche and Killer Queen in We Will Rock You, Amneris in Aida and the title role in Elisabeth.

Afonso, who plays the Taxi Driver, has appeared in the West End in Thriller Live (Lyric Theatre), We Will Rock You (Dominion) and Top Hat (Aldwych). His voice-over credits include "Shrek" (DreamWorks), "Beauty and the Beast" (Disney) and "102 Dalmatians" (Disney).

Oakley, who plays Carlos, recently starred as Gilbert Chilvers in the U.K. tour of Betty Blue Eyes. Other theatre credits include The Book of Mormon (Prince of Wales), Wonderful Town (2012 U.K. tour) and We Will Rock You (Dominion Theatre).
