News Gabriel Barre, Joe Calarco, Wendy C. Goldberg and More to Direct at the O'Neill This Summer Gabriel Barre, Joe Calarco, Kent Thompson, Giovanna Sardelli and Wendy C. Goldberg are among the directors participating in the Eugene O'Neill Center's National Playwrights and Music Theater Conferences this summer.

Presented June 18-July 12 in Waterford, CT, the Music Theater Conference is led by artistic director Paulette Haupt. Read more about the Music Theater Conference here.

Musicals include Broadcast, featuring book and lyrics by Nathan Christensen and music by Scott Murphy, which will be directed by Joe Calarco (June 22, 23, 26 and 28); The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes, with book and lyrics by Christopher Dimond and music by Michael Kooman, which will be directed by Gabriel Barre (June 29 and 30, July 3 and 5); and Goddess, penned by Mkhululi Z. Mabija and Michael Thurber, which will be directed by Saheem Ali with musical direction by John DiPinto (July 6, 7, 10 and 12).

The Playwrights Conference, under the leadership of artistic director Wendy C. Goldberg, begins July 3. Read more about the season here.

Plays include The Solid Sand Below, by Martín Zimmerman and directed by Kent Thompson (July 3-4); Samsara by Lauren Yee and directed by Seth Bockley (July 5-6); A Great Wilderness by Samuel D. Hunter and directed by Braden Abraham (July 10-11); Little Children Dream of God by Jeff Augustin and directed by Giovanna Sardelli (July 12-13); The Oregon Trail by Bekah Brunstetter and directed by Geordie Broadwater (July 17-18); All the Roads Home by Jen Silverman and directed by Adam Greenfield (July 19-20); Evanston: A Rare Comedy by Michael Yates Crowley and directed by Michael Rau (July 24-25); and Lost Lake by David Auburn and directed by Wendy C. Goldberg (July 26-27).

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center was founded in 1964 and is based in Waterford, CT. Programs at the Center include the Puppetry Conference, Playwrights Conference, Critics Institute, Music Theater Conference and the National Theater Institute. The Monte Cristo Cottage, O'Neill's childhood home, is also owned and operated by the group.
