Tony Award winner John Rando (Urinetown) will direct the Jan. 26 show, to be held at the Rainbow Room at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. The event features the previously reported Renee Elise Goldsberry (The Lion King, The Color Purple and Mimi in the final cast of Broadway's Rent) and Leslie Kritzer (Legally Blonde, A Catered Affair).
Newly announced for the evening is theatre actor Alexander Gemignani, most recently seen Off-Broadway in Stephen Sondheim's Road Show. Among his Broadway credits are Les Misérables, Sweeney Todd and Assassins.
The evening begins with a 7 PM cocktail reception, followed by dinner at 8 PM and the show at 9:15 PM. All money raised from this annual event will benefit MTC's extensive educational outreach programs, as well as its artistic development program.
MTC Board members Bethany Millard and Fiona Kirk are the co-chairs.
Under the leadership of artistic director Lynne Meadow and executive producer Barry Grove, MTC is a major resident Equity not-for-profit in New York City, operating theatres on Broadway (the Samuel J. Friedman) and off (Stage I and Stage II at New York City Center). MTC productions have earned many awards, including 16 Tony Awards and five Pulitzer Prizes.
