In an interview with U-T San Diego, Tresnjak revealed that Tony-winning book writer Freedman and Tony-nominated composer Lutvak have turned their attention to a musical adaptation of "Campaign of the Century," which document's writer Upton Sinclair's unsuccessful 1934 run for Governor of California. Sinclair is best-known for his work "The Jungle."
"It's the first time that Hollywood gets involved and influences [a] campaign, and uses film techniques to knock down candidates," Tresnjak said. "It's actually very funny - it's just as funny as Gentleman’s Guide. Believe me, that’s the only way I would do something like this."
A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder premiered on Broadway Oct. 22, 2013. It won four 2014 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
