Artistic director Tracy Brigden directs the play, to appear on City Theatre's Main Stage May 7-29. Opening night is May 13.
Co-authors Hatcher (Scotland Road, Compleat Female Stage Beauty) and Simonson (Lombardi) teamed up in 2004 for City Theatre's Work Song: Three Views of Frank Lloyd Wright.
Louder Faster features Tony Bingham, Jeffrey Carpenter, Martin Giles, Patrick Jordan, Robyne Parrish, Brian Sgambati and Marina Squerciati.
According to City Theatre notes, Hatcher and Simonson "celebrate Pittsburgh-born comic playwright George S. Kaufman by placing him at the center of his own Kaufman-like plot. The famed dramatist returns to his Pittsburgh childhood home to cure a case of writer's block, only to find himself foiled at every turn by slamming doors, mistaken identities, and a hilarious assortment of eccentric locals."
Kaufman's plays (alone or with co-writers) include The Royal Family, The Man Who Came to Dinner, You Can't Take It With You, Once in a Lifetime, June Moon, The Butter and Egg Man and more.
The design team includes Tony Ferrieri (scenic), Michael Krass (costume), Andrew David Ostrowski (lighting) and Brad Peterson (sound).
City Theatre is at 1300 Bingham Street on Pittsburgh's South Side. For tickets and information, visit www.citytheatrecompany.org.
