George Street artistic director David Saint will helm the comedy, which runs May 10-June 6, 2011, in New Brunswick, NJ. Opening night is scheduled for May 13, 2011.
Director Saint said in a statement, "When I first saw this Tony Award-winning play on Broadway, I immediately thought it was the perfect play for George Street."
"The gloves come off and all hell breaks loose when two sets of parents meet to discuss the playground altercation between their two eleven year-old sons," according to George Street press notes. "What starts out as a civilized conversation about apologies and minor injuries quickly escalates into a wild inter-parental melee of infantile behavior and unthinkable actions."
Casting will be announced at a later date.
The season at the New Jersey venue will kick off Oct. 5 with Annie Baker's Circle Mirror Transformation and will be followed by the four-person musical [title of show]; Frank Gilroy's The Subject Was Roses; and the New Jersey premiere of a new Ken Ludwig farce, Fox on the Fairway, which will make its world premiere at the Signature Theatre in the fall. Five-play, three-play and flexible admission packages are currently on sale. Individual tickets will be available at the box office beginning Sept. 7. George Street Playhouse is located at 9 Livingston Avenue; for more information call (732) 246-7717 or visit GSPonline.org.
