The first European production of the Frank Wildhorn musical Jekyll & Hyde will open n Feb. 19 in the German city of Bremen. German opera director Dietrich Hilsdorf will stage the show. Jekll & Hyde began rehearsals in Bremen, November 1998. At a press conference last spring, the production company "New Metropol Bremen" announced plans to invest around 30 million dollars to convert a former swimming pool complex located in the city center into a musical theatre with 1500 seating capacity.

American actress Lyn Liechty will play the role of Lucy. Liechty has previously acted abroad, performing as Ellen in Miss Saigon in Stuttgart, Germany and in the Vienna production of Dance of the Vampires. She is a graduate of Webster University Conservatory of Theater Arts in St. Louis, MO, and also attended Interlochen Arts Academy (Interloche, MO).

Jekyll & Hyde opened at Broadway's Plymouth Theatre on April 28, 1997. Wildhorn's other works include The Scarlet Pimpernel and The Civil War.
