David Korins, prolific designer of the stage and screen, has shared a first look at his work on this year's Academy Awards, for which he serves as designer and creative director as announced earlier this year. Korins returns to the broadcast, set for March 28, after designing the awards in 2019.

"My vision with this design is to create a modern portal into the future where we trade in the currency of elegance and electricity," shares the Tony-nominated Hamilton and Beetlejuice set designer of his design for the 2022 Oscars on Instagram. "A future where community and togetherness are front and center and everything and everyone gets their own special moment to shine."

Korins' Hamilton colleagues Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ariana DeBose are both competing for Oscars at the upcoming ceremony, with DeBose nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Anita in Steven Spielberg's West Side Story, and Miranda nominated for Best Song for Encanto's "Dos Oruguitas." His TV credits include The 2020 Heisman Trophy Ceremony, Elton John: I’m Still Standing – A Grammy Salute, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and Grease: Live!, for which he won an Emmy Award.

Korins is currently represented on Broadway with Hamilton and Dear Evan Hansen, with his designs for Beetlejuice and Mrs. Doubtfire set to return to Broadway in the coming weeks. He received Tony Award nominations for his designs to Hamilton, Beetlejuice, and War Paint.
