News Gets, Kitt, Green, O'Hara and Jenkins Scheduled for Birdland in June Several theatre favorites will take to the stage of Birdland, the famed Manhattan jazz club, in June.

Malcolm Gets, last seen on Broadway in Amour, will perform at the nightspot June 4 and 11 at 7 PM. Gets' show, according to press notes, "is the outgrowth of a piece he started while studying at Yale Drama School. It's a very informal, funny and personal story about the genesis of his love of musical theatre; from early piano lessons, parents' cast recordings and sibling's love of pop tunes and how his personal relationship to music became based on relationships with family." Cabaretgoers can expect to hear tunes by Rodgers and Hammerstein, Kenny Loggins, Joni Mitchell and Mary Chapin Carpenter. Cover charge is $30. Tom Kitt and Amanda Green, who penned the score for the short-lived Broadway musical High Fidelity, will take to the Birdland stage June 18 at 7 PM. Kelli O'Hara, Celia Keenan-Bolger and the Tom Kitt band as well as High Fidelity cast members will perform songs from Kitt and Green's many projects, including Feeling Electric, Debbie Does Dallas and High Fidelity. Cover charge is $25.

Capathia Jenkins, seen on Broadway earlier this season in Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, will join composer Louis Rosen for a preview of new songs Rosen has penned to the words of poet Nikki Giovanni (these songs will be recorded for a PS Classics release). The June 24 concert — featuring Kimberly Grigsby on piano and Dave Phillips on bass — will also include tunes from South Side Stories. Show time is 7 PM; there is a $25 cover charge.

There is a $10 food-drink minimum at the tables. Birdland is located at 315 West 44th Street. For reservations call (212) 581-3080 or visit www.birdlandjazz.com.
