News Ghostlight Records to Record Ricky Ian Gordon Song Cycle Ricky Ian Gordon's Orpheus and Euridice, a song cycle based on the classic, tragic Greek myth, will be recorded by Ghostlight Records this spring.

Composer Gordon told Playbill.com that Ghostlight will record his new work April 27 and 28. The score of Orpheus has also just been released by Carl Fischer Music. That company has also just released "The Piano Music of Ricky Ian Gordon" and Gordon's "Songs for Our Time." The latter features an introduction by Audra McDonald. Orpheus and Euridice premiered at the Rose Theatre at Jazz at Lincoln Center in October 2005. The work, which features a score and text by Gordon, was performed by soprano Elizabeth Futral and clarinetist Todd Palmer. Contemporary dance choreographer Doug Varone directed the Oct. 5, 7 and 8 performances.

Ricky Ian Gordon’s My Life with Albertine was presented at Playwrights Horizons. His other works include Dream True, States of Independence, Stonewall/Night Variations, The Tibetan Book of the Dead, Only Heaven, Autumn Valentine, Sweet Song and Morning Star. His songs have been recorded by such artists as Betty Buckley, Audra McDonald and Dawn Upshaw. PS Classics will release Gordon's Dream True this spring with a cast headed by Victoria Clark, Jessica Molaskey, Jason Danieley, Brian d'Arcy James, Kelli O'Hara, Jeff McCarthy, Clark Thorell and Michael McElroy.
