SAN DIEGO -- Giving Up the Ghost, written by Cherrie Moraga and directed by Dora Arreola, is set to open Mar. 13 at the Centro Cultural De La Raza performance space for a month-long run.

A first-time co-production of Diversionary Theatre and Centro Cultural De La Raza, the play is about "a Chicana lesbian who has survived racism, sexism, homophobia, classism, nationalism and sexual exploitation," said a company spokesperson.

In a plug for the show, political activist Angela Davis recently said, "[Ghost] is an emotionally haunting encounter that asks us as women to look back over our shoulders and face the unforgettable. Cherrie Morgan drums up the pulse of the past in all of us."

The cast includes Stephanie Matthew-Diaz, Eloisa Ramos and Silva Torres. Guadalupe Arreola is the set and lighting designer, and Dora Arreola is the costume designer.

Performances are Thu.-Sat. at 8 PM and Sun. 7 PM at The Centro, 2004 Park Blvd., just south of the Reuben H. Fleet Museum. For tickets, $12-$15, call (619) 220-0097. *

In other news, the Diversionary Theatre's current mainstage attraction, O'Mary's, a musical comedy about the regulars of a neighborhood bar, has been held over through Mar. 7.
