News GLAAD Announces Dates for Media Awards Ceremonies The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has announced the dates for its media awards, which include several theatre-related categories.

The awards ceremonies take place on different dates in various cities: March 26, 2007, New York, Marriott Marquis; April 14, Los Angeles, Kodak Theater; April 28, San Francisco, Westin St. Francis; May 10, Miami, JW Marriott Miami.

Nominees will be announced in mid-January. The New York and Los Angeles awards ceremonies will be televised on Logo, the MTV Networks cable channel dedicated to programming for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender viewers and their allies. The awards are expected to air in late April.

According to the GLAAD website, the awards "recognize and honor mainstream media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives." The awards have been held every year since 1990.

Among the winners last year were Doug Wright's I Am My Own Wife (Outstanding Los Angeles Theatre), The Five Lesbian Brothers' Oedipus at Palm Springs (Outstanding New York Theater: Broadway & Off-Broadway) and David Ozanich's The Lightning Field (Outstanding New York Theater).
