News "Glee" Ratings Surge for Cory Monteith Tribute Episode "Glee" ratings rose to their highest numbers in more than a year when fans tuned in Oct. 10 for the series' farewell episode to late cast member Cory Monteith.

The poignant tribute episode "The Quarterback" was up 75 percent from last week's installment, garnering 7.4 million viewers who tuned in for the emotional hour.

According to Deadline.com, the episode drew a 2.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 2.9 in ages 18-34.

Monteith died July 13 at the age of 31 due to a "mixed drug toxicity" of heroin and alcohol." He played quarterback and New Directions group member Finn Hudson on the popular musical series.
