News "Glee" Star Cory Monteith Dies at 31 Cory Monteith, who played heartthrob Finn Hudson on the Fox hit musical series "Glee," died at the age of 31, Vancouver, Canada, police confirmed in a news conference.

"Good evening. Shortly after noon today, the Vancouver police received a call from the BC Ambulance Service regarding a sudden death in a room on the 21st floor of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel at 1038 Canada Place in downtown Vancouver. Police attended within minutes of the call, and paramedics advised the man in the room was clearly deceased. Coroner's staff did attend the scene," said acting Vancouver police chief Doug LePard at a press conference. "The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Cory Monteith, who acheived great fame on the popular TV series 'Glee.'"

The actor was found July 13 at Vancouver's Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel. He checked into the hotel July 6, and was expected to check out July 13. When Monteith missed his checkout time at noon, hotel staff went to his room and discovered his body.

No cause of death was given and no foul play is suspected, police said. Police are questioning the people he was with July 12. 

"I HAVE NO WORDS! MY HEART IS BROKEN CORY WAS NOT ONLY A HELL OF A FRIEND HE WAS ONE AMAZING MEN THAT I WILL HOLD CLOSE TO MY HEART FOREVER," tweeted "Glee" co-star Dot-Marie Jones, who plays coach Shannon Beiste on the series. 

Glee executive producers, producers 20th Century Fox Television and Fox Broadcasting Co. said in a statement: "We are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person. He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones." As previously reported, Monteith checked into rehab for substance abuse in March 2013.

The actor, according to his representative, "ha[d] voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction. He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery."

Monteith had previously entered rehab at 19 years old.

Monteith's girlfriend, Spring Awakening actress and "Glee" co-star Lea Michele, previously told People magazine, "I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision."

"Glee" co-creator Ryan Murphy previously tweeted, "I am so proud of Cory Monteith and love and support him 100%." 

Monteith won a Teen Choice Award for his work on "Glee" in 2011. 

Cory Allan-Michael Monteith was born May 11, 1982, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Among his other numerous screen credits were "Sisters & Brothers," "Monte Carlo," "The Assistants," "Mistresses," "The Boy Next Door," "Fear Itself," "Kaya," "Flash Gordon," "Whisper," "The Invisible," "Hybrid," "Whistler," "Final Destination 3" and "Young Blades."
