Classic Arts News Glimmerglass Opera's Fall Benefit to Feature Sarah Coburn and John Gaston Glimmerglass Opera will hold its annual fall gala at Scandinavia House in Manhattan on December 8, the Cooperstown, New York, company announced.
The evening will feature performances by soprano Sarah Coburn and countertenor John Gaston, both graduates of the company's Young American Artists Program. Proceeds from the event benefit the training program.

Coburn starred in Glimmerglass's production of Donizetti's Lucie de Mammermoor last summer, and Gaston sang Apollo in the company's staging of Britten's Death in Venice.

The event will also include a tribute to Allen R. Freedman and Robert B. Schlather, who served as acting general directors of the company during its recent search for new leadership. Glimmerglass named Michael MacLeod, the former executive director of the New Haven Symphony, its new general director in June.

Tickets for the evening, which includes cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, are $300-$500. For more information, contact Vanessa Talbot at (607) 547-5704 or [email protected].
