Head Over Heels, the new musical featuring the songs of the Go-Go’s, will play San Francisco’s Curran this spring—and has its eyes on a Broadway home to follow.
The musical had already been slated to open on Broadway in the 2018–2019 season, and according to the New York Post, it will indeed make its New York bow this summer at the Hudson Theatre (currently the home of The Parisian Woman, scheduled through March 11).
The musical, inspired by Philip Sidney’s 16th century Arcadia, features a book by James Magruder (adapted from Jeff Whitty’s original material from the 2015 world premiere at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival). Michael Mayer will direct.
Gwyneth Paltow is attached to produce, having spearheaded a series of revisions and workshops following the 2015 premiere. Producing alongside her are her former boyfriend Donovan Leitch, Rick Ferrari, Christine Russell, Louise Gund, Hunter Arnold, and Tom Kirdahy.
The production will feature orchestrations by musical supervisor Tom Kitt, choreography by Spencer Liff, sets by Julian Crouch, lighting design by Kevin Adams, costumes by Arianne Phillips, and sound design by Kai Harada.
