Lyricist David Zippel will get by with a little help from his friends, Jan. 17, when his show "All Girl Band: The Song of David Zippel" opens at Joe's Pub in New York City. Singing the man's work will be Randy Graff and Debbie Gravitte. The show will also play Jan. 24 and 31.
Graff's connection to Zippel is strong; she won a Tony for her performance in the lyricist's City of Angels. Her other credits include Do Re Mi at Encores! and High Society. Gravitte made her Broadway debut in They're Playing Our Song and went on to star in Jerome Robbins' Broadway and Ain't Broadway Grand.
Zippel is the lyricist of City of Angels and "Hercules." He recently announced his plans to compose a new musical about Napolean and Josephine with Angels collaborators Cy Coleman and Larry Gelbart.
