The record-breaking Italian production of Grease is scheduled to reopen in Rome Mar. 10. Author Jim Jacobs is expected to attend the opening night.

Last season, the show enjoyed a 14 weeks sell-out run at the Eternal City's Teatro Sistina, with an estimated attendance of over 130,000 and a gross of almost 6 billion lire (approximately $3.2 million), and an equally successful 25 weeks Milan run.

No major cast changes have been announced for the new production. The popular television and film star Lorella Cuccarini (who recently played a minor role in "Star Trek: Insurrection"), will play Sandy, and Giampiero Ingrassia will play Danny. Also starring are Michele Carfora (Kenickie), Renata Fusco (Rizzo) and pop singer Mal (Teen Angel). National radio disk-jockey Mauro Marino will replace Marco Predolin in the role of Vince Fontaine.

The Rome production of Grease is directed by Saverio Marconi (whose credits include A Chorus Line, Cabaret, West Side Story and a recent Paris production of Maury Yeston's Nine) and features sets by Aldo De Lorenzo, costumes by Zaira De Vincentiis and choreography by Franco Miseria. The show is produced by "Musical Italia" under the artistic direction of Saverio Marconi and Silvio Testi, who features also as a musical supervisor. Giuseppe Vessicchio is the musical director. Silvio Testi and Michele Renzullo translated into Italian Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey's book and lyrics.
