News Grease Will Be the Word in Paris Beginning Oct. 8 A French-language production of the international hit musical Grease will open at Theatre Comédia, Paris Oct. 8.

Directed and choreographed by Olivier Bénézech and Jeanne Deschaux (Fiddler On the Roof), the production will feature costume design by Frédéric Olivier, lighting design by Régis Vigneron and artistic direction by Serge Tapierman.

The French company will be led by Cecilia Cara as Sandy and Djamel Mehnane as Danny. Other cast members include Amélie Munier (Rizzo), Clémence Merot du Barre (Frenchy), Virginie Perrier (Marty), Vanessa Cailhol (Jan), David Ban (Kenickie), Fabrice Todaro (Doody), Nuno Resende (Roger), Pedro Alves (Sonny), Fabrice Nemo (Eugene), Alix Briseis (Patty), Caroline Roëlands (Miss Lynch), Audrey Senesse (Cha-Cha) and Olivier Ruidavet (Vince Fontaine/Teen Angel).

The musical will be performed in French, although a few songs will remain in English. Lyrics and dialogue have been adapted by Stéphane Laporte.

Grease features book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. The Paris production will also boast songs from the hit 1978 film, which co-starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John. Among the film songs heard in the Paris production will be "Sandy," "Hopelessly Devoted to You," "Grease" and "You're the One That I Want."

Grease will offer performances Tuesday-Friday evenings at 8:30 PM, Saturdays at 5:30 and 9 PM, and Sundays at 5 PM. Tickets, priced €18-€62, are available by calling 331 42 38 22 22.
