"The hope is to create a roundtable in which a community of playwrights at various stages in their careers, with various areas of expertise, are able to share material, develop supportive partnerships and publically present their new work," said curator Cordileone in a statement. "A program of this nature encourages community and collaboration in an often solitary art form; ideally, growing personal and professional partnerships in this manner results in incredibly inspired new plays."

In the development pilot, playwrights will "explore their own new work and mentor writers of the future." Participating artists include Drukman (Another Fine Mess, Prince of Atlantis), Tyler Grimes (Meat, Ahoy Abel Brown!), Emily Kaczmarek (Jeremy, To Lose Control of the Vehicle), Kotis (Urinetown, Pig Farm), Deborah Laufer (Sirens, End Days), Nikkole Salter (Carnaval, In the Continuum) and Joe Salvatore (Three, Open Heart).

In December, members of the Writers' Roundtable will present readings of the work generated throughout this process. All readings will take place at NYU.
