News Groff’s Orange Lemon Egg Canary Gets Chicago Premiere, Jan. 8, 2004 Rinne Groff, the rising downtown author who has had critical hits with Inky and Jimmy Carter Was a Democrat, will see the Chicago premiere of her Orange Lemon Egg Canary presented by Roadworks Productions, Jan. 8-Feb. 29, with an opening on Jan. 11.

Orange Yellow recently had its premiere at the 2003 Humana Festival in Louisville, KY. The play, called “a trick in four acts,” is about a love triangle between two assistants and a magician simply named Great, whose signature illusion is something called The Hypnotic Balance. The production marks Groff’s Chicago debut.

Rick DesRochers directs the cast of four, including Ed Dzialo as Great; Elizabeth Laidlaw as Egypt, his ex-lover, former assistant and now fierce competitor; Lindsay Gould as Trilby; and Kathryn Finch as Henrietta.
