What the Constitution Means to Me, which marks the Broadway debut of show’s playwright and star Heidi Schreck, grossed $457,256 at the box office for the week ending April 14. The weekly take is the highest so far for the play, which opened on Broadway March 31 at the Helen Hayes Theatre.
The play has another reason to celebrate, as it was just named a finalist for the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
Among those also seeing noticeable climbs in business this week were the revival of Oklahoma!, which grossed 80.32 percent of its potential with $599,132; the production, having opened April 7, also celebrated its third consecutive week surpassing capacity. Meanwhile, the new musical Tootsie brought in $821,780—its highest weekly gross since beginning March 29.
