News Grumpy Old Women Live Show Heads to West End's Novello Theatre Grumpy Old Women Live 2: Chin Up Britain, a live stage version of the hit TV series, is heading to the West End's Novello Theatre, following a sell-out 62-date national tour in 2009.

The show will begin performances April 14 for an eight-week run through June 5. The show, co-written by Judith Holder (author of the first "Grumpy Old Women" book and producer of the TV series it is based on) and original cast member Jenny Eclair, it will also star Eclair, joined by Susie Blake and Wendi Richards.

According to press materials, "This testy triumvirate will be treading the boards (whilst trying not to break them) in all their collective grumpy glory. The country has gone to rack and ruin, but Britain’s Top Grumps are ready to hit the nation’s capital in a show packed full of handy hints on getting through these hard times the grumpy way. So chin up Britain! It’s time to fight back, with ninety minutes of advance grumbling and tutting: the theatrical equivalent of a good shoulder rub."

A previous stage version of Grumpy Old Women Live undertook four sell-out UK tours, had a month-long West End residency, and went to Australia, selling a total of 180,000 tickets in all. It was released on DVD in 2008.

Eclair was the first woman to win the Edinburgh Festival's prestigious Perrier Award for live comedy. She has hosted her own show on LBC Radio, and contributes regularly to shows on BBC Radio 4. She performed and co-wrote The Andy Warhol Syndrome, seen at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2004, and has appeared in the West End in Steaming, Mum's the Word and The Vagina Monologues. She co-wrote "Wendy" and "Grump Old Couples" with Holder. She has also written three novels.

Blake is best known for playing Beverley Unwin in TV's "Coronation Street" and being a regular on "The Victoria Wood Show." She was last seen in the West End in Wicked at the Apollo Victoria, and has also appeared in Noises Off (National Theatre, on tour and West End's Piccadilly Theatre), The Shakespeare Revue (RSC at the Barbican, Vaudeville and national tour) and productions of High Society, The Rocky Horror Show and Godspell. Peters has also appeared in TV's "Coronation Street," and played Pam Jolly in "Bad Girls" and appeared in "Out of the Blue" and "Celebrity Adrenaline Junkie." She was a finalist on the most recent series of "Celebrity Masterchef." She has toured Ireland in a one-woman play Mrs. Whippy by Cecelia Ahern, and has toured in The Vagina Monologues, Hello Dolly! and Guys and Dolls.
