News Guirgis and Goyanes to Direct Free Play Readings for InViolet Repertory Theater Company The InViolet Repertory Theater Company will present free readings of two original one-act plays, Melanie Angelina's Consumption and Megan Hart's See Jane Talk.

Both plays will be presented May 19-20 at 7 PM at the Kraine Theater in Manhattan. Stephen Adly Guirgis will direct Consumption, and The Public Theater's Director of Special Projects, Maria Goyanes, will direct See Jane Talk.

Consumption, according to press notes, is "about how in the beginning of a relationship, a person will always tell you exactly who they are, if only you will listen. It examines how we force people into roles they are often unwilling or incapable of playing, rather than looking at the truth, as we try to deal with one of humanity's most universal fears: that of being alone."

The Consumption cast will feature Marc Menchaca, Rodrigo Lopresti, Francis Benhamou and Megan Hart.

See Jane Talk is described as "a play that examines the values and trappings of therapy, and at the same time explores the playwright's feelings about 'how absurd and rich that experience can be.'"

Melanie Angelina Maras and Sara Van Beckum will perform See Jane Talk. The Kraine Theater is located at 85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery. For reservations email [email protected].
