A.R. Gurney's comedy, Sylvia, opens at the Cleveland Play House on April 21 for a four-week run, thus capping that theatre's 1997-98 season. Gurney's play, an Off-Broadway hit a few seasons back, deals with a dog who becomes the major bone of contention in a modern-day marriage. Abigail Lopez stars as the dog in question. Others in the cast include Tom Stechschulte, Marsha Waterbury, and Paul DeBoy. Directing is David Colacci.
In conjunction with Sylvia, the theatre will host an "Adopt-a-Pet" day on Apr. 26, from noon to 2 PM. Those who choose to adopt get a two-for-one ticket to Sylvia and the chance to win door prizes.
Sylvia runs through May 17. For information, call (216) 795-7000.
