News Guthrie to Launch New Theatre with The Great Gatsby in Summer 2006 Minneapolis' Guthrie Theater will launch its first season in its new three-theatre complex with The Great Gatsby in July.

This new adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel was penned by Simon Levy. David Esbjornson will direct the production, which will incorporate jazz music and dance of the Roaring Twenties era. About the upcoming production, Guthrie Artistic Director Joe Dowling said in a statement, “I’m thrilled to inaugurate the Guthrie with the world premiere of The Great Gatsby. To present a new play based on a classic American novel is a symbol of the Guthrie’s commitment to producing exciting new work along with the classics that have always been a part of our repertoire.”
