Last chance to catch Off-Off-Broadway's Perkasie Theatre Company presenting Alan Bennett's 1975 comedy, Habeas Corpus, in its first New York production since the original came to Broadway 25 years ago. The revival opened Oct. 25 and ends Nov. 18.

The show follows Dr. Wicksteed, who believes "He who lusts last, lasts longest" revealing sexual desires among a host of repressed English people.

Directed by Perkasie artistic director Steven Keim, the production stars Neal Arluck, Mary Aufman, Carrie Brewer, Denise DeMirjian, David Godbey, Anne Kavanagh, Brain Linden, Brad Makarowski, Robert Meskin, Kelly Miller and Kimberly Reiss. The set is designed by Telford Scenic, with costumes by T. Michael Hall.

The six year-old Perkasie Theatre Company is dedicated to reviving neglected or seldom-produced, language-driven plays. Other Bennett plays include The Lady in the Van, which will probably reach Broadway next season. The playwright got his start as a member of the UK comedy troupe "Beyond the Fringe," alongside Peter Cook, Dudley Moore and Jonathan Miler.

Habeas Corpus will be presented at the Sanford Meisner Theatre, located at 164 11th Ave. For tickets, please call (212) 924-8699. — Steve Luber
