News Hai -Ya! It's Karate, Kid!, High-Kicking New Musical Spoof, Premieres in NYC Dec. 2-18 It's Karate, Kid!, a new musical billed as "an outrageous and unconventional riff on the beloved '80s film," gets its world premiere in Manhattan Dec. 2-18.

The Four Corners Project presents the staging on the Lower East Side at Teatro La Tea in Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center, 107 Suffolk Street, between Delancey and Rivington. Opening is Dec. 3.

Written by Travis Kramer (book, music and lyrics) and directed by Jake Hirzel, the musical tells of a "mystical maintenance man" who guides Daniel-San Larusso, who "wages war against pill-popping, white trash deviants; well styled, bloodthirsty karate students; rampaging hormones and many more 'unsavory things.'"

The score boasts 19 new songs, including "Wax On! Wax Off!," "A My Name is Ali" and "We are the Bitchkicks."

It's Karate, Kid! The Musical features Jennifer Byrne (as Mrs. Lucille Larusso), Charles Duff (as Tim Reynolds), Sarah Hubbard (as Ali Mills), Kevin Kirkwood (as Mr. Miyagi), James LaRosa (as Freddie Fernandez), Thomas Lash (as Evil Sensei), Melina Lizette (as Cindy DeCarlo), Andrew Rannells (as Johnny Lawrence), Matthew Simpkins (as Daniel-San Larusso), Karl Warden (as Brad Stevens) and Amanda Weeden (as Crazy Old Bitch), with Kerry Flanagan, Mary Kelley and Nicole Lewis as "The Bitchkicks." Choreography is by Jennifer L. Mudge. Designers are Nick Francone (scenic), Sidney Shannon (costume), Bill Sheehan (lighting), Adam Farquharson (sound). Fight direction is by Qui Nguyen. Additional lyrics are by Tom Oster.

The show plays Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 PM, with Saturday matinees at 2 PM.

Tickets are $15 each and are available by calling (212) 352- 3101, or in-person at the Teatro La Tea box office (107 Suffolk Street, second floor) one hour before show time. Student rush tickets are also available.
