Hairspray has a Tony Award-winning score by Marc Shaiman (music/co-lyricist) and Scott Wittman (co-lyricist) and a Tony-winning book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan.

Larry Raben directs the production with choreography by Lee Martino and musical direction by Dennis Castellano. Hairspray will officially open Oct. 29 for a run through Nov. 13 at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center.

Bullock, who played Wilbur Turnblad on Broadway and subsequently appeared as Edna in the national tour of Hairspray, reprises his performance as the zaftig matron of the Turnblad household, alongside Morgan as Tracy Turnblad.

The principal cast also includes David Engel (Broadway's Seussical, La Cage aux Folles) as Corny Collins, Todrick D. Hall (Broadway's Memphis, The Color Purple) as Seaweed, Derek Klena ("American Idol," Happy Days) as Link, Tracy Lore (Peter Pan) as Velma Von Tussle, Barry Pearl (Broadway's The Producers, Baby It’s You) as Wilbur Turnblad, Lauren Smolka (Ragtime, All Shook Up) as Amber Von Tussle, Gwen Stewart (Broadway's Rent, Starmites) as Motormouth Maybelle and Erin Watkins (Spelling Bee…) as Penny.

Here's how MTW bills the hit musical: "Hairspray, based on the John Waters camp classic film of the same name, is the story of big dreams, big girls and big hair! Typical teenager Tracy Turnblad is obsessed with The Corny Collins Show and teen heartthrob, Link Larkin. Though rejected at the Corny Collins auditions, Tracy shows off some moves at the Sophomore Hop, where Corny Collins gives her a place on his show. Tracy is soon launched to stardom, and once on the show, changes the face of 1960s Baltimore forever." Tickets are available by phoning (562) 856-1999, ext. 4, or by visiting MusicalTheatreWest. The Musical Theatre West box office is located at 4350 E. 7th Street in Long Beach, CA.
