News Halston, Busch, Steggert, Skinner, Testa to Appear at Benefit Honoring A.R. Gurney The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning theatre company Transport Group will honor playwright A.R. Gurney and columnist Liz Smith at its 2010 Gimme a Break! Benefit Dec. 6 at 6:30 PM at the Asia Society and Museum.

The evening will begin with a cocktail reception followed by a performance and the award ceremony. Julie Halston will host the evening. Halston, Charles Busch, Emily Skinner, Bobby Steggert and Mary Testa will perform and share stories of their first breaks in show business.

A.R. Gurney is the author of Love Letters, The Dining Room, Sylvia, The Cocktail Hour, Ancestral Voices, Big Bill, Indian Blood, Children and Crazy Mary. His plays have earned him Lucille Lortel, Drama Desk and Rockefeller awards. His most recent works, The Grand Manner and Office Hours, debuted last spring at Lincoln Center Theater and recently ran this fall at the Flea Theater, respectively.
