News Hand to God's Steven Boyer Tapped for NBC's "The Trail" Hand to God star and Tony nominee Steven Boyer has been cast in NBC's new documentary-style comedy, "The Trail," according to Deadline.

The new project is reportedly a spoof of popular real-life crime series like "The Jinx" and "Making a Murderer." It will follow a top-shot lawyer and his hapless defense team during a high-profile murder trial in a southern town. Boyer is tapped to play Dwayne, the squad's lead investigator.

The new series is a collaboration between NBC, Jeff Astrof, Matt Miller and Warner Bros. TV.

Boyer, who played the dual role of Jason and tyrannous puppet Tyrone in Hand to God, took his final bow last month when the show concluded its Broadway run Jan. 3.
