News Hanson Will Be Mame for Minneapolis Musical Theatre in New Season The Minneapolis Musical Theatre will offer an irreverent Off-Broadway comedy, a popular country musical and a Tony-winning Jerry Herman musical with a twist as part of its 2009-2010 season.

Launching the season will be The Great American Trailer Park Musical, running Nov. 6-22. Featuring a score by David Nehls and a book by Betsy Kelso, artistic director Steven J. Meerdink will direct the production that has musical direction by Kevin Hanson. Trailer Park centers on a stripper on the run who upsets the Florida trailer park community of Armadillo Acres when she blows into town. The Tony-winning Roger Miller musical Big River will follow, playing March 5-21, 2010. Meerdink directs the musical based on the Mark Twain novel, which has a book by William Hauptman. The classic country musical will have musical direction by Lori Maxwell.

Minneapolis Musical Theatre co-founder Kevin Hanson will open a new window when he stars in the title role of the Jerry Herman musical Mame, running June 4-20, 2010. Hanson, who portrayed Albin in La Cage aux Folles for MMT last season, steps into the role of the beloved eccentric aunt. Steven J. Meerdink directs the musical, which features a book by Jerome Lawrence and Robert Edwin Lee, based on the memoir by Patrick Dennis. Lori Maxwell is musical director.
