The free reading at the York will be directed by Ted Sod and will feature the talents of Klea Blackhurst, Heidi Blickenstaff, Jonathan Brody, Ann Harada, Jillian Louis, Randy Redd and Devin Richards. Mark Janas is the musical director. Show time is 7:30 PM. Gay Grimms was written by Ted Sod (libretto), Dan Martin (music) and Michael Biello (lyrics). The musical, according to press notes, concerns "Jackie and Leon, the Cousins Grimm, adapting their ancestors’ beloved stories and adding a queer sensibility to them. Jackie is a celebrated lesbian composer/solo artist. Leon asks her to work with him and she impulsively agrees. Strange and magical things begin to happen as their versions of the tales come to life; including a mysterious and surprising twist to their creative collaboration."

Director/librettist Sod wrote the screenplay for "Crocodile Tears," which is based on his play Satan and Simon DeSoto. Biello and Martin previously collaborated on Breathe, which was seen at the Bailiwick Theatre in Chicago.

The York Theatre Company is located in The Theatre at Saint Peter's Church, 54th Street just east of Lexington Avenue. For reservations, call (212) 935-5824, ext. 24.
