Julie Benko, who played Ruth in the recent Broadway musical Harmony, will make her Café Carlyle debut this spring.
Benko, also acclaimed for playing Thursday evenings as the alternate Fanny Brice in the Broadway revival of Funny Girl, will play the Manhattan venue May 2–4 in an autobiographical concert titled Standby, Me. The actor will be accompanied by spouse Jason Yeager on piano and will reflect on her career, singing the praises of the oft-unsung hero of Broadway: the understudy.
