Classic Arts News Harnoncourt Messiah Debuts on Billboard Classical Chart A new recording of Handel's Messiah by conductor Nikolaus Harnoncourt and his Concentus Musicus Wien debuted on the Billboard classical chart this week at number 13.
The recording also features the Arnold Schoenberg Choir and soloists Christina Sch‹fer, Anna Larsson, Michael Schade, and Gerald Finley.

Violinist Andr_ Rieu's The Flying Dutchman moved back into the top spot on the chart, bumping Ren_e Fleming's Sacred Songs to number two. Rieu also holds the fourth and fifth spots on the chart with New Year's in Vienna and Tuscany.

The biggest movers of the week included Trio Mediæval's Stella Maris, which jumped from number 22 to number 14 in its 10th week on the chart.

Two albums from Il Divo remained at the top of the classical-crossover chart: The Christmas Collection at number one and Il Divo at number two. Both albums increased their sales as Christmas approached, as did the Il Divo Gift Pack, which packages the two albums together and is currently at number nine.
