News HBO "Oz" and "The Wire" Stars Headline Wolfe-Directed Topdog/Underdog in Seattle, Sept. 4-27 Stars of the HBO series "Oz" and "The Wire" headline the Seattle Repertory Theatre season-opener, the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Topdog/Underdog by Suzan-Lori Parks. The show's Broadway director George C. Wolfe directs the work anew.

The Seattle staging will play the company's Bagley Wright Theatre, Sept. 4-27 with an official opening Sept . 8.

Harold Perrineau and Larry Gilliard, Jr. take on the roles of brothers Booth and Lincoln in a tale of street hustling, brotherly love and sibling rivalry. The play began Off-Broadway at The Public Theatre in July of 2001 then transferred to a Broadway run at the Ambassador Theatre where it opened April 7, 2002. Parks received the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for her play.

Perrineau last appeared Off-Broadway in Blue/ Orange. The actor is known for his turns on the HBO prison drama "Oz" and in the films "Matrix Reloaded" and Baz Luhrman's "Romeo + Juliet." Other stage credits include The Love of Bullets (The Public Theatre), Avenue X (Playwrights Horizons), Born Guilty (Arena Stage) and Betsey Brown (McCarter Theatre).

Gilliard, Jr., a regular on HBO's drama "The Wire," has appeared in such films as "Gangs of New York," "The Water Boy" and "Cecil B. Demented." His stage credits include Zooman and the Sign (Second Stage), Police Boys (Playwrights Horizons), Life During Wartime (Nuyorican Poets Café) and Abstract Expressions (Long Wharf Theatre)

Playwright Parks' other works include Fucking A, In the Blood, The America Play, Venus, and The Death of the Last Black Man in the Whole Entire World. She penned the feature film, "Girl 6," which was directed by Spike Lee and is currently adapting Toni Morrison's novel "Paradise" for Oprah Winfrey as well as the musical Hoopz for Disney. Director Wolfe, the current producer of the Joseph Papp Public Theater/ New York Theater Workshop, also directed Elaine Stritch: At Liberty, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Jelly's Last Jam, Angels in America: the Millennium Approaches and Perestroika, Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 and Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk. Also a writer, Wolfe's writing credits include The Colored Museum, , Spunk, and books for the musicals The Wild Party and Jelly's Last Jam.

The Topdog/Underdog design team includes Ricardo Hernandez (scenic), Emilio Sosa (costume), Scott Zielinski (lighting) and Dan Moses Shreier (sound). David Roth serves as three-card monte consultant.
