According to the creators, "Inspired by the true life story of original cast member George Takei, Allegiance tells a powerful and moving tale of family, love, and heroism, set during the sweeping events of World War II.Allegiance follows the struggles and resilience of one family, who, like Takeis, were among the 120,000 Americans of Japanese decent imprisoned behind barbed wire in U.S. concentration camps. Through the power of music and the magic of the stage, Allegiance brings to life a story you've never heard, about a family you will never forget."

Allegiance was developed in a 2012 workshop at the Old Globe in San Diego, CA.
