Heat Wave — a co-production between Pegasus and Live Bait Theater — is written by Steve Simoncic and directed by Ilesa Duncan, based on Eric Klinenberg's book, "Heat Wave: A Social Autopsy of Disaster in Chicago." Performances will play Feb. 21-April 6, 2008.

Pegasus calls the work a "moving new play" that looks at the heat wave of 1995, which took the lives of 739 Chicagoans. It "examines one of the country's worst weather-related disasters from all perspectives, creating a vivid portrait of a city in crisis, but with its resources and humanity firmly in tact."

Pegasus is run by artistic director Alex Levy and executive director Arlene Crewdson.

The 2007-08 season will also boast August Wilson's Jitney directed by Jonathan Wilson; the first regional production of Golda's Balcony, William Gibson's one-woman tour de force starring Chicago favorite Janet Ulrich Brooks as Golda Meir, directed by Alex Levy; and the 22nd Annual Chicago Young Playwrights Festival.
