This partnership aims to celebrate LGBTQ youth; Hedwig and the Angry Inch will offer a special Pride Sunday performance at 7 PM following Criss and Jones' participation in the parade.
"We cannot thank Hedwig enough for its generosity and support over the years [since its Off-Broadway debut] and we are thrilled about our Pride partnership," said Thomas Krever, chief executive officer of HMI, in a statement. "This partnership will bring a tremendous amount of visibility and awareness, helping the vital work we do for LGBTQ youth."
Hedwig continues its ongoing partnership with HMI with another donation of $100,000, bringing the total to $500,000 since the show opened on Broadway in 2014.
In addition, The Shubert Organization, one of the producers of Hedwig and the owner of the Belasco Theatre, is making a separate donation of over $32,000 to HMI.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch has been an HMI supporter for years to help LGBTQ at-risk youth through ticket sales, album proceeds and fundraising. Hedwig and the Angry Inch and HMI started their relationship in 2003 with the tribute album "Wig In A Box: Songs From and Inspired by Hedwig and the Angry Inch," which benefited HMI. This was continued with the documentary film "Follow My Voice," which highlighted the Harvey Milk School, located at HMI, and the making of the "Wig in a Box" album.
