News Hee-Haw Reading, with Schroder, Stone, Blackman and Ricci, Presented Sept. 10 A by-invitation-only reading of the new Daniel F. Levin play Hee-Haw — billed as "a counter-telling of 'It's a Wonderful Life'" — will be presented Sept. 10 at Shetler Studios in Manhattan.

Playwright Levin directs a cast that includes Wayne Schroder as Sam Wainwright, Anna Stone as Jane Pearson, Lauren Blackman as Mary Hatch, Felicia Ricci as Violet Bick, A.J. Shively and Jenny Nissel. Joy Son is the music director. Hee-Haw, according to press notes, is described as such: "Sam Wainwright is pissed off. George Bailey never left Bedford Falls; he stole Sam's girlfriend, Mary Hatch (while they were on the phone!) and then married her. Yet it's George Bailey who gets all the credit as the hero of Bedford Falls. . . . Sam Wainwright is hosting a night of vaudeville in which he'll show George's treachery, make the case for what real success looks like, and maybe even win back Mary."

Producers are being sought for the full production of Hee-Haw, which is scheduled for a Dec. 4-20 run at the Nuyorican Poets Café.

Shetler Studios is located at 244 West 54th Street. Industry folk interested in attending the reading should contact [email protected].
