News HERE's Living Room Series of New Plays Begins in Downtown Manhattan June 20 The American Living Room Festival will begin its month-long run at HERE Arts Center on June 20. This is the 16th year the downtown Manhattan theatre company has presented the summer festival of emerging art.

This year’s festival presents 30 events, including directing projects, performances, puppetry pieces and new musical compositions. The unifying theme of this festival is "The 'Carousel of Progress' in America." Pieces range from 10 to 120 minutes in length and are presented in TALR’s signature "comfortable living room environment"—a mix of easy chairs and couches (thus the title of the festival). This year's curators are playwright and HERE resident artist Tim Braun, HERE resident artist and director Eva Burgess, HERE associate producer Rachel Ford, HERE co-founder and executive director Kristin Marting and Les Freres Corbusier artistic director Alex Timbers.

Featured artists of past festivals include Mike Albo, Paul Boocock, Robert Cucuzza, Elevator Repair Service, International WOW Company, Les Freres Corbusier, Camryn Manheim, Walter Thompson Orchestra, Will Pomerantz, Basil Twist, Tory Vasquez, Claude Wampler, The Committee and Deke Weaver.
